Ukraine produces over 300mn kWh of electricity from renewable sources

In 2011 Ukraine produced over 300 million kWh of electricity from renewable sources, Chairman Mykola Pashkevych of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving (NAER) told the press.

According to him, through the implementation of energy efficiency programs, in the first half of 2011 0.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas were saved. “Starting 2010, energy intensity of GDP has been steadily declining,” Pashkevych emphasized.

The official added that for the first time the Agency worked out all the regulations for the competitive selection of energy efficient projects for their public support through the funds provided in the state budget.
